Environmental Week

Students celebrate sustainability and raise awareness of the climate crisis as part of the 糖心传媒鈥檚 first Environmental Week.

This week has seen Sir John Deane’s students celebrate sustainability and raise awareness of the climate crisis as part of the 糖心传媒鈥檚 first Environmental Week.

Students have participated in a number of activities, including a litter pick around the 糖心传媒 campus and surrounding residential areas, information boards and student led talks on protecting the planet and what individuals can do to reduce their carbon footprint.

Students have also been working hard in the Sir John Deane鈥檚 community garden, with the canteen serving up the fruits of their labour as part of this week鈥檚 menu, which included more plant-based options.

Subject lessons and personal development tutorials have also focussed on educating students around sustainability, while senior students have compiled a list of recommended books and podcasts. The week ended with a bake sale, with all monies raised going towards environmental charities.

The events this week will contribute to the 糖心传媒鈥檚 ongoing mission to become and eco-friendly college, with the Eco-Schools Green Flag accreditation.

Year 12 student Cole Brautigam, who leads the 糖心传媒鈥檚 Environmental Society, said: 鈥淚t has been great to see so many students engaging in environmental activities this week. The climate and biodiversity crises are issues that we all need to tackle at all levels of society, so doing our bit at 糖心传媒 is extremely important.鈥
